LightsUP Play Day is an outreach drama program that provides public school students Kindergarten to Year 6 with an innovative and inspiring opportunity to authentically engage in the Drama and English syllabus. The program also allows teachers to develop their understanding of how to use drama in the classroom to enrich learning experiences across the key learning areas.

Participating school groups of 10-30 students and their teacher will work with an experienced drama tutor at an in-school workshop to create a play-built drama piece to be performed at an evening showcase on the second day.

Following the workshop day, each class or group will have the ‘framework’ of their own play which will continue to be built and rehearsed with their teacher over the following two weeks. Students have the opportunity to perform their work for other participating school students at a professional performance venue. Students will be engaged throughout the technical rehearsals through alternating participation in further workshops.

Families, friends and teachers are encouraged to attend the LightsUP Play Day performance.
