Far North Coast Senior Dance Ensemble
The Far North Coast Senior Dance Ensemble is for talented dance students from NSW public schools in Year 9 to Year 12. Boys are strongly encouraged to apply.
Membership is by audition only and is open to students attending NSW public schools living across the Far North Coast.
This ensemble is aimed at talented dance students who display a high level of technical skill and performance quality and wish be involved in the choreographic process to create, learn and perform a dance work at the Far North Coast Dance Festival. This ensemble will also audition to perform at State Dance Festival.
Successful applicants will be working collaboratively with Anouska Gammon Anouska Gammon – an active choreographer for NSW State Dance Ensembles and festivals, and a lecturer at Southern Cross University in Creative and Performing Arts in Education, to create a contemporary dance work.
2023 dates and how to apply
Applications are now open and close Friday 3 March 2023. To apply, complete the Far North Dance Ensembles application form attaching an endorsement form and audition video.
Audition videos should show the student performing a 1 minute solo within their chosen dance style to particularly highlight their technical skills and performance quality. This is to be filmed ideally in a dance space, from the front, in one shot (no editing) with the whole body visible at all times. Students are to wear plain, form fitting dance attire with midriff covered and have tidy hair (costumes not required).
Successful applicants will be required to attend all rehearsal sessions at Kingscliff High School, on the following dates and performances at the Far North Coast Dance Festival.
- Session 1: Thursday 27 - Friday 28 April 2023
- Session 2: Thursday 18 May 2023
Cost
The yearly ensemble fee of $125 covers tuition and the supply of costumes.
