ELEANOR ALONSO LOVE: Hi, my name is Eleanor Alonso Love and I'm in Year 8 at Fort Street High School. This is my monologue entitled The Hairdresser.

Wow, hun. You got a lot of hair. Yeah. Well, when I was your age, I had the best hair. All the girls were jealous. I was so popular. Always, you know, going out, causing trouble, having fun. That kind of thing. And at any given moment, I could tell you the latest gossip about anyone around town. Matter of fact, I still can.

The other day I saw Danny and Carla at that fish and chips place down the road, which is only in business because it's owned by the daughter of the mayor, who's paying for it with that prize money he won at the town fair, which Marjorie says is rigged. But that's only because she's jealous of Cathy, who-- huh? Oh, right. Your hair. Yes.

So anyway, love. Yeah. How are you going? Cause I'm here to support you and my friends and all that rubbish. Oh. You've got nothing you tell me. OK. That's fine. Yeah. Let's dry your hair then, shall we? So how's school? Tell me about school. You got any friends?

No, I didn't think so, love. How are things going with you and that boy, Gerald? James. Right. Oh, I'm sorry to hear that, love. Broke up with James. Huh? Nothing, love. Don't you worry about it. So tell me how is ya mum? How's she going. I haven't seen her in a while. Yeah. You haven't seen her in a while either? That's fine.

What about your sister? How's her new job going? Oh, you don't want to talk about that. Oh, all right. No, how's your brother? He's in Adelaide right? Yeah. Nothing big happened there either. That's what I thought. You could do this the easy way or the hard way. You can tell me the gossip or you'll get a bowl cut, or a perm, or a mullet. Oh. My next customer's here. Well, I hope you like your haircut, love. Yeah. Have a good day. Bye bye.
