CApture Film Festival 2023

2024 winners

Congratulations to our 2024 Capture winners! Enjoy their creations and all the captivating CApture films in our online showcase, set to premiere in mid-December.

About CApture

CApture Film Festival is a celebration of creativity and inspiration designed to spotlight students' remarkable talents in Years 9, 10, and 11. Our festival is not just about showcasing films; it's about nurturing the future of storytelling through the power of the lens.

CApture is supported by the NSW Department of Education’s CApture filmmaking resource. The interactive resource supports students to produce their own short films as they are guided by interviews from award-winning industry experts, real-world short film examples and engaging activities.

The inaugural CApture Film Festival took place at Hoyts Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park on Tuesday 14 November. Senior departmental officers, sponsors and the creators of the CApture filmmaking resource were present for this remarkable occasion.

Film By

2024 winners

Congratulations to our 2024 Film By Invitation winners! Delight in their creations, along with all the captivating films from the local festivals, in our upcoming online showcase, set to premiere in mid-December.

Film By is an initiative of the New South Wales Department of Education. The program includes festivals, workshops and teaching and learning resources in film for teachers and students from all schools in NSW. A premiere event, Film By Invitation also showcases the most outstanding films from across NSW.  All Film By festival films are also showcased online.

About Film By

Film By exhibits the achievements of filmmakers from K to 12 students at local cinemas as part of a series of festivals across NSW. Film By also provides digital access to their resources and student and teacher professional learning workshops across the state.

This year, many Film By local festivals ran across the state. An online festival was also created to support other areas of the state that may not yet have a Film By. This allowed any student or class from Kindergarten to Year 8 wanting to submit a film to be entered into Film By Online

To support students in producing high-quality films, the NSW Department of Education has produced a teaching resource called Lights, Camera, Action! , a step-by-step guide through pre-production, production and post-production of filmmaking.
